Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has unveiled the Altroz iCNG with AMT. This makes it the first premium hatchback in India that features both CNG fueling capabilities and automatic transmission, ensuring enhanced driving comfort without sacrificing any fuel efficiency or cargo capacity.
First Premium Hatchback with CNG and AMT:
In an announcement made on its website, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd has unveiled the Altroz iCNG AMT for an initial price of Rs 8.69 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The new model is an addition to the Altroz lineup that has several other powertrain options available.
According to the manufacturer, the new variant comes with the fuel economy and efficiency associated with CNG along with the driver-friendliness of AMT. Tata Motors has ensured that the iCNG twin cylinder engine, known for providing cargo space, will continue to be used with the Altroz model.
The new Altroz model can be purchased in variants ranging from Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative S, and Accomplished S at a maximum cost of Rs 10.76 lakh.
Rising demand for convenient CNG vehicles:
The Tata Motor has stated that there is an increasing demand for CNG vehicles in India, not only in existing but also in new regions outside of traditional CNG areas.
On the occasion of the launch of the car, Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd said, “Altroz has established itself as a benchmark in the premium hatchback segment owing to a great emphasis on design, safety and powertrain optionality. The fastest-growing energy source in our country today is CNG at 19 per cent penetration for FY25 and 22 per cent for FY26, a growth that no longer occurs only in existing markets but also in new regions which make significant contributions to usage. The addition of AMT in the iCNG range is aimed squarely at fulfilling the customers’ needs for greater convenience in their CNG vehicle usage. It makes the Altroz the most flexible and premium vehicle in its segment, offering perfect balance of economy, driveability and convenience, with no compromise in terms of spaciousness and safety.”
