Just two weeks since its launch, the most powerful wind turbine by Suzlon has been able to make its first significant sale. Suzlon has received a 105 MW order for the S175 (5.0 MW) from Sunsure Energy, indicating high level of market confidence in their latest wind technology.
A successful start for Suzlon’s new turbine:
The above mentioned sale is the first sale of the S175 of Suzlon that is also the tallest and most powerful turbine in India. This is also the third time in 14 months that Suzlon has made a sale to Sunsure Energy with the total sales of both the firms being 400.8 MW.
The order involves the supply, erection, commissioning and maintenance of 21 units of the S175 wind turbine generators at Bijapur, Karnataka.
Driven by a rotor diameter of 175 metres and a 160-metre hybrid lattice tower, the S175 aims at utilizing greater wind speeds to generate greater power.
Opportunities with wind energy:
This new wind turbine model is specifically made to unlock the wind energy potential of regions that were deemed not fit for wind projects. In this way, developers can increase their project feasibility.

Sunsure Energy regards the deal as an important step towards addressing the increasing need for clean energy in India as the electrification and industrialization of the country are on the rise.
