A memorandum of understanding has been signed between Naval Group of France and Nibe Group for cooperation in naval shipbuilding, defence platforms, and autonomous systems.This partnership will also focus on cooperation in underwater drones, mine countermeasure vessels, submarine technology, and weapon launching systems on naval vessels.This includes integration of underwater drones on board submarines, weapon ready modular launching system, and mine countermeasure system and engineering, says the regulatory filing by Nibe.
Expanding on their existing presence in India:
According to Naval Group, this partnership is based on their presence in India over the last decade and their established network of industrial partnerships in the Indian naval defence industry. “The signature of this partnership reflects our joint determination to build sovereign, resilient and future-proof naval capabilities in India,” said Marie-Laure Bourgeois, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing at Naval Group.
Also, she mentioned that this partnership reflects their commitment to the Special Global Strategic Partnership between India and France.
Mutual strengths in defence:
As per the chairman and managing director of Nibe Group, Ganesh Nibe, the expertise of his firm in offering integrated defence solutions and investing in the same will help the partnership in bringing forth innovative naval technology to India.
Naval Group designs, manufactures, equips, integrates and services submarines, surface ships as well as naval systems and equipment. They also have competencies in autonomous systems, underwater weaponry and drones.
The defence portfolio of Nibe Group includes manufacturing of missiles launchers, weapon platforms, ammunition components, anti-UAS systems, military electronics, surveillance solutions and more.
