The exports of textiles from the Indian economy showed an increase of 9.4% in the month of November. The total exports of textiles, garments, and handicraft products from India were valued at USD 2,855.8 million in November 2025, with a growth level of 9.4 percent on a yearly basis, the government announced. The total overseas shipments for the textiles industry in November 2024 were valued at USD 2,601.5 million.
The US, with their levied 50 percent tariff on Indian goods, happens to be the biggest export destination for the textile and apparel sector of India. In 2024-25, the total value of textile and apparel, including their domestic business and export, has been measured at USD 179 billion, out of which their domestic business comprises USD 142 billion, while export business amounts to USD 37 billion.
Some important segments which registered significant growth during the month of November 2025 include ready made garments (RMG), which showed a growth of 11.3%, man-made yarn/fabrics/made-ups, etc., which recorded a growth of 15.7%, cotton yarn/fabrics/made-ups and handloom products, which recorded an increase of 4.1%, and handicrafts (excluding handmade carpets), which showed an increase of 29.7%.
The total exports of textiles and apparel exports (excluding handicrafts) done during January-November were USD 32,560.0 million, which shows a growth of 0.26 per cent over USD 32,474.9 million in the corresponding period of the previous year.
“It is noteworthy that exports of Readymade Garments (RMG) during the period January-November 2025 witnessed a growth of 3.6 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous year. There was a growth of 6.1 per cent during the same period for jute products,” the textiles ministry said.
