In Gujarat and Rajasthan, NTPC commissions 360 MW of solar projects, bringing the overall capacity to 85 GW.

Industrywiz Daily updates

State-owned power producer NTPC Ltd. has commissioned close to 360 MW of new solar capacity across key renewable energy hubs in Gujarat and Rajasthan, further strengthening its clean energy portfolio. The projects were declared commercially operational on December 17–18, 2025-a development marking yet another milestone in India’s renewable growth story.

These include 243.66 MW from the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project and 37.925 MW from the Khavda Solar Energy Project under the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche-V in Gujarat, besides 78 MW from the Nokh Sokar Solar PV Project in Rajasthan. The solar projects involve high-efficiency photovoltaic modules matching global standards of performance. These are likely to go a long way in scaling up clean power generation in the region.

With this latest addition, the total installed and commercial capacity of NTPC has crossed 85.5 GW, marking the company’s accelerated push toward an enhanced portfolio of sustainable energy mix. NTPC currently contributes approximately one-quarter of India’s total power generation and has an additional 30.90 GW of capacity under construction, including 13.3 GW from renewable sources. It also has an ambitious target to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032 to help India achieve its broader net-zero and clean energy goals.

Officials also point out that such solar projects will help cut carbon footprints and are in line with ensuring energy security, while allowing diversity in NTPC’s generation portfolio. With India scaling up solar implementation even in western states like Gujarat and Rajasthan, developers along with EPC partners have raised focus on using high-quality components coupled with efficient strategies for project executions to meet the growing demand.
