SAEL Ltd has been successful in commissioning its 600 MW solar power projects, namely SAEL Solar MHP1 and SAEL Solar MHP2, within the shortest period possible – just 11 months. The event will officially be launched by Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for HRD, IT & Electronics, Nara Lokesh, on 22nd May, 2026, at YSR Kadapa district.
Large investment and huge developmental initiative:
The two solar plants are developed at a cost of about Rs 3,000 crores in a total area of over 2,400 acres and form part of the best energy investments in recent times. These two projects would feature prominent attendance by top-notch officials such as the Energy Minister of Andhra Pradesh state, Gottipati Ravi, among other officials from SAEL Ltd.
State-of-the-art solar energy and integrated manufacturing processes:
Both solar plants were put into operation on different dates; SAEL Solar MHP1 project was completed on 30th January, 2026 while MHP2 was completed on March 13th, 2026. In addition, the projects use over 1.2 million state-of-the-art TOPCon bifacial solar panels, with many of them being manufactured at SAEL Ltd’s factories in Punjab and Rajasthan.
Role in providing clean energy and impact on environment:
This clean energy will be fed into the national power grid under the 25-year power purchase agreement signed with the Solar Energy Corporation of India, thus making Andhra Pradesh one of the prominent producers of clean energy. The emission avoidance of almost 11 lakhs tonnes of CO₂ per year will have a positive economic impact on the region as well. Over 1,000 people were employed during the construction period, 80% of whom belong to the local community.
In addition, the proper land lease policy linked to the development is going to provide economic advantages to local farmers over 25 years, since it is a fixed income source for them. The implementation of these projects falls within the scope of SAEL’s EPC-O&M model, as a result of the cooperation between the government of Andhra Pradesh and other local stakeholders.
Consistency with clean energy objectives of Andhra Pradesh:
The above-mentioned developments are significant as Andhra Pradesh continues to implement its Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 to attract Rs 10 lakh crore investments into different renewable industries within the next five years. At the time of inauguration, Nara Lokesh will emphasize Andhra Pradesh’s objective to establish itself as India’s clean energy powerhouse and exporter of renewable energy, backed by swift industrial execution and favorable governance for investors.
One of the most renowned integrated renewable energy companies in India, SAEL Industries, has achieved a cumulative capacity of 8,299 MWp from solar power and battery storage operations across the country, and has made additional investments to take advantage of the upcoming renewable energy opportunities in Andhra Pradesh.
