Phenol and Acetone Plant by Haldia Petrochemicals (HPL), worth Rs 6,000 crores, will be inaugurated on October 14, 2026, in Haldia. The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, is supposed to inaugurate this plant.
The petrochemical plant is being set up in Haldia by Haldia Petrochemicals Limited through its subsidiary company, which is called Adplus Polymers & Chemicals.
The project will increase the capacity of production of phenol and acetone within India.
Project to boost petrochemical industry of Haldia
This project is in Haldia, West Bengal, which is an industrial and petrochemical hub. The project is expected to help boost the petrochemical industry of West Bengal and chemical manufacturing industry in downstream.
This project will also show the ongoing efforts of manufacturing and producing of certain industrial chemicals.
Final stage of construction:
HPL chairman, Mr. Purnendu Chatterjee, has inspected the construction site in February to check the final stage of construction. The senior officials of the project have been present there along with Mr. Chatterjee.
The firm has been continuing with the construction work for the plant as it is about to get commissioned and inaugurated. This project is an important milestone in the expansion strategy of HPL in Indian chemical manufacturing industry.
Chemical production in India:
This project would add to the petrochemical production network of India as it would provide greater production of the required chemicals inside the country. This project would also help the manufacturers of downstream products who use phenol and acetone in their production process.
This investment has shown the continuous expansion of the capacity for the chemical manufacturing in West Bengal. HPL is expecting this project to develop the Haldia region industrially and enhance its importance in the petrochemical industry of India.
With commissioning and inauguration around the corner, this project has become an important upcoming industrial development of West Bengal.
