Covestro (India) Private Ltd has been certified as an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Tier 2 company by the CBIC of India. This AEO certification acknowledges the customs compliances and security procedures followed by Covestro India.
The AEO Tier 2 certification provides Covestro India with some advantages during operation. They are priority clearance, Direct Port Delivery (DPD), and Direct Port Entry (DPE) for eligible cargoes. In addition, the certification decreases the bank guarantee requirement and increases the duty deferment period to 30 days. The increase is in line with the Union Budget 2026-27 and relevant notifications.
These can assist Covestro India in moving cargo quickly without delays to its customers. Also, these help manufacturers with their lean and just-in-time production processes. Improving supply chain efficiency:
Anand Srinivasan, Managing Director – Covestro (India) and Head of Polycarbonate – ISC, opined that “the manufacturing industry in India is witnessing rapid growth and so are the supply chain standards. Our AEO T2 status will make it easier for us to do business here as a partner rather than just a supplier.”
The AEO programme is run by the Directorate of International Customs at CBIC as an initiative for facilitating international trade. It provides certification to those firms who exhibit a certain standard of compliance and supply chain security. It has been divided into three tiers including T1, T2 and T3 with increasing levels of trade facilitations provided.
T2 of the AEO programme includes those companies which exhibit maturity and verifiability in their compliance controls. It is in line with the international framework of trusted traders and is aimed at facilitating secure and efficient international trade. For Covestro India, it will help in better support of international shipments.
