Baumer wins second prize in the Vision category at the Inspect Award with its VLX series of 10 GigE cameras featuring Canon RF-Mount technology.
The cameras were chosen by readers of specialized press magazines because of the way in which they implement lens technology in industrial vision applications. The award ceremony was held in Stuttgart during VISION, the biggest international fair for image processing.
Integrated lens technology makes industrial vision easy:
By integrating Canon RF-Mount lenses into its industrial cameras via a license agreement, Baumer is taking a step further in the development of integrated image processing solutions.
Another area of application that the integrated RF-Mount caters to is one where regular change in working distance and lighting is required. Users may choose from Canon’s range of RF lenses depending on their requirements in terms of resolution, focal length and cost factors.
The concept offers more freedom for configuration of the vision system by the industrial user for changing needs.
High-resolution cameras ensure fast data transfer:
The VLX Series consists of cameras with high resolutions up to 65 megapixels and interface 10 Gigabit Ethernet, making it possible to transfer huge amounts of image data at fast rates for industrial image processing tasks.
These cameras have ‘focus-by-wire’ capability, allowing users to set the focus and aperture settings from the camera. The OOCI standard ensures this function. It assists in integrating optical systems easily despite varying industrial imaging tasks.
Mirko Benz, Head of Product Management at the Baumer Vision Competence Center, stated: “The award from the inspect readership shows that this concept solves an actual need in image processing. We wanted to make the integration of modern lens technologies much simpler but also to offer increased flexibility in difficult image processing tasks.”
Recognition helps Baumer reinforce the value of its industrial vision range:
The Inspect Award underlines the innovation of the company in industrial image processing and its commitment to integrated vision systems. With the integration of the RF-Mount into their camera lineup, the company seeks to leverage the possibilities of cost-effective lens systems in industry.
With the new VLX Series, the company integrates high-resolution imaging, fast data transfer, and lens control into one camera.
