The new Tuono 457 Special Edition has been revealed by Aprilia India, which is an updated version of its mid-range naked bike that incorporates design cues from its famous 2006 model, Tuono 1000R, along with a host of changes made to make the ride more comfortable.
Launched on World Motorcycle Day, this new model will be priced at ₹3.99 lakh (excluding tax/registration, ex-showroom Maharashtra), and is now open for booking through selected Aprilia dealerships across India. Two new colours have been introduced in the new model, Mamba Black and Puma Grey.
Combining heritage design with practicality:
This special edition of the existing model uses a 457 cc parallel twin engine that delivers 35 kW of power and 43.5 Nm of torque. This motorcycle keeps its performance-based nature intact while focusing on comfort and controls for both urban riding and long distances.
A new aerodynamic screen has been developed to provide better wind protection and decrease fatigue for the rider at higher speeds. Following the design cues of the 2006 Tuono 1000R, the new edition also sports refreshed graphics and styling cues to strengthen its Streetfighter concept.
The bike has a new ergonomics package with a raised handlebar for an upright riding stance. It aims to ease the pressure on wrists, shoulders and lower back of the rider while enhancing agility in city riding conditions.
Comfort is the key focus area:
There have been changes in the suspension configuration to suit the road conditions in India. The Special Edition gets a softer first stroke suspension along with modified compression damping to enhance comfort while riding on bad roads. Riders can now customise the suspension preload to suit their needs.
A new aerodynamic screen has been designed which gives increased protection from wind and reduces fatigue levels for the rider due to high speed. In line with the design of the Tuono 1000R in 2006, the latest model has got fresh graphics and styling lines, further reinforcing its Streetfighter character.
It features a redesigned ergonomic package featuring an elevated handlebar giving the rider a more upright position, intended to reduce strain on the wrists, shoulders and lower back of the rider and make him more agile in urban riding conditions.

The bike now has a different suspension setup suitable for riding on Indian roads. The Special Edition comes with a softer first stroke suspension system with the change in compression damping improving comfort during driving on bad roads. The riders now have the ability to adjust their suspension preload.
