The Ampere electric two-wheeler range from Greaves Electric Mobility Ltd. has surpassed the production mark of over 4 lakh electric scooters in India, thus reaching yet another important milestone during its operations within the fast-growing mass market segment of the EV industry of the country.
This is especially important given that today, the adoption of electric two-wheelers in India has been moving away from the big cities towards more affordable options for daily transportation for the masses. As stated by the company, this milestone is due to the growing adoption of Ampere electric scooters by first-time buyers, families, daily commuters and small businesses.
Mass market driven growth:
The company achieved the 51 per cent YoY growth in FY26 and increased its market share from 3.6 per cent in FY25 to 4.4 per cent in FY26.
According to the company, its growth has been enabled by its commitment to developing products tailored for Indian conditions, such as roads, weather and usage needs. In particular, the company produces electric scooters based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery platform offering enhanced thermal stability, safety and operational lifespan of up to about 200,000 km.
In an interview, Vikas Singh, MD of Greaves Electric Mobility, commented that the achievement of crossing 4 lakhs is because of increasing consumer trust in Ampere products, especially in sub-₹1 lakh range. He also stated that rising fuel prices are motivating consumers towards electric mobility solutions to satisfy their transport requirements.
Expansion of product line-up and network:
Apart from this, the recent success of Ampere has been backed by accolades and recognitions it has received for its product lineup. The Ampere Nexus, the winner of the award ‘Electric Scooter of the Year 2025,’ received significant attention through demonstrations on endurance, such as ride over the Kolli Hills and Shipki La Pass.
Apart from this, other models in the line-up have also received awards and recognition. The award of ‘Electric Scooter of the Year 2026’ went to the model Magnus Grand, while ‘Family Scooter of the Year 2026’ was awarded to the model Magnus G-Max.
Apart from the product development, the company made efforts in expanding its dealership, retail, and service networks in the fiscal year 26. The number of dealers of Ampere grew by 12 per cent from its previous financial year.
It is worth mentioning that 4 lakhs of these products include slow-speed electric vehicles which are not even accounted for in the VAHAN database. Going forward, it is clear that Ampere will focus on expanding its product line based on LFP batteries in order to capture greater market share.
