NTPC Green Energy Limited has commissioned 165 MW solar power capacity for its Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat. This has enabled the NTPC Green Energy Group to achieve a total installed capacity of 9727.68 MW, as this solar power capacity has been commissioned for operation.
NTPC Green Energy Expands Solar Footprint with 165 MW Addition at Khavda:
NTPC Green Energy Limited has commissioned solar power capacity to the extent of 165 MW as part of its Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat. This has enabled the NTPC Green Energy Group to achieve a total installed capacity of 9727.68 MW, as this solar power capacity has been commissioned for operation.
The commercial operation for this solar power capacity, aggregating to 165 MW, has been initiated from March 19, 2026. This solar power capacity has been commissioned as part of the Khavda-II Solar PV Project, aggregating to 1200 MW, with this being the fourth part of this solar power project in Gujarat, thereby enhancing the total installed capacity for NTPC Green Energy to 9727.68 MW from 9562.68 MW.
This is an important part of NTPC Green Energy’s expansion strategy in the renewable energy segment. This is also in line with India’s national ambition in this direction and strengthens NTPC’s position in this segment.
NTPC Green Energy’s Expansion Drive:
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) is the dedicated company for NTPC’s green energy initiatives and aims to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy by FY32. The Khavda-II project in Gujarat is one of NGEL’s significant initiatives, and various capacities are being progressively added at this project. NTPC Limited, the parent company, has set high ambitions for its total installed capacity, targeting 130 GW by FY32, where a significant part of this capacity would be from non-fossil fuel-based sources. As on March 31, 2025, the total installed capacity of NTPC Group stood at around 80 GW.
Key Developments and Investor Focus:
The addition of this new solar capacity takes NTPC Green Energy Group’s total installed renewable energy capacity to 9727.68 MW. This is part of the company’s and NTPC’s broader ambition in this segment and is also part of the ongoing development in this Khavda-II solar project. This also strengthens NGEL’s position as a key driver for NTPC’s diversification into clean and renewable energy.
