A major step towards accelerating circular materials in the global garment sector has been taken with the announcement of a multi-year cooperation between Syre, the textile impact firm focussing on hyperscaling textile-to-textile recycling, and Nike, Inc.
As per the agreement, Syre will be Nike’s primary strategic supplier for textile-to-textile recycled polyester, and Nike will start incorporating Syre’s circular polyester into important performance product lines in the upcoming years. The partnership is a reflection of both Syre’s goal to spearhead the shift to a circular textile ecosystem and Nike’s desire to scale sustainable material innovation.

The long-term objective of both businesses is to increase the usage of textile-derived fibres in order to facilitate a closed-loop system in which end-of-life clothing is used as a raw material for performance equipment of the future. Nike’s Vice President of Materials Supply Chain, Sitora Muzafarova, stated, “Our partnership with Syre represents a shift in our materials strategy and how we source.” “Our goal to create products that give athletes their best performance while also being more sustainable depends on textile-to-textile recycled polyester.”
According to Dennis Nobelius, CEO of Syre, the partnership represents a turning point in the development of circular materials from concept to large-scale commercial reality. “Nike’s commitment to textile-to-textile polyester sends a powerful signal to the industry,” he stated. “Circularity is becoming the new normal; this is not a one-time initiative or capsule collection.”
