Zelio E-Mobility has also announced the opening of a new manufacturing unit in Cuttack, Odisha, as part of its expansion plans in Eastern India, due to the immense growth and acceptance of their products in Odisha and West Bengal. The new unit will help them cut down their delivery times from almost a week to a much more efficient time frame, as they will be geographically closer to their customer base.
The new unit will help the company boost its overall production capacity from 72,000 units to 1,80,000 units per annum, with an additional 60,000 units coming from the Odisha unit itself. The company’s existing unit in Hisar, Haryana, has also been optimized to increase its capacity to 1,20,000 units per annum.
Investment in line with increasing demand for EVs:
With an investment of less than Rs 3 crore, the functional unit is all set to start contributing to the company’s revenues from day one and is expected to make a substantial difference to Zelio’s business model, particularly from FY26-FY27, with forecasts suggesting that a substantial portion of their revenues will come from the increasing demand for electric vehicles (EVs) in Eastern and Southern India.
The plant will be dealing in electric two-wheelers, and the details related to the machinery and eco-friendly systems are being finalized. Zelio is also in talks with the Odisha government regarding possible incentives and aims to provide employment to 60 to 100 locals, which is a testament to its focus on the development of the region.
Improving dealership and service network:
Kunal Arya, Managing Director, Zelio E-Mobility, said, “Eastern India has proved to be one of our most successful markets, and our customers have shown us immense faith in our offerings. The opening of the Cuttack facility will help us reach our customers and dealers faster, and we will be able to provide them with faster deliveries and reduced logistics costs. This is also a significant step in the development of the EV ecosystem in India.”
Supported by strong financial performance:
The Cuttack plant is expected to strengthen Zelio’s growing dealership chain in Eastern and Southern India by providing faster access to products, improved after-sales services, and enhanced inventory support. This new production facility is expected to cater to the growing demand for affordable electric mobility solutions in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, thus fueling the company’s growth plans. This comes after Zelio E-Mobility’s strong financial performance in H1 FY26, with consolidated revenue of Rs 134.78 crore and a net profit of Rs 11.87 crore.
The company had earlier this year successfully completed an SME IPO, raising Rs 78.34 crore, out of which Rs 36 crore was allocated for capacity expansion and new facilities, including the Odisha plant. With over 337 dealerships across 20+ states and an ever-expanding lineup of electric two-wheelers, Zelio is strengthening its position as a reliable and fast-growing customer-focused EV brand in India.
