It is also in discussions with international operators such as Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), Hyatt, and Marriott to make it operationally ready before the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
Nirma Group forays into hospitality:
The diversified Indian conglomerate, Nirma Group, with interests spanning detergents, cement, and healthcare, is set to expand its portfolio into hospitality. The group has started the process to develop a major 555-room upper-upscale hotel in Ahmedabad in what could be a significant strategic diversification. This foray marks a new beginning for the ₹12,207-crore group.
Luxury Hotel Planned for Ahmedabad:
The future hotel, a five-star property, has been planned on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway, which is a rapidly developing commercial area, located in Ahmadabad. Nirma Group has applied to get environmental clearance, which will be a decisive factor in executing this venture. It will serve the high-end market, looking at international as well as regular business events.
Operator Discussions Underway:
Initial discussions with the major foreign hotel chains to administer the proposed facility have begun. Sources say Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (IHCL), the Hyatt, and the Marriott Group are the firms with whom the Nirma Group was holding discussions. Though, no binding deal has been agreed upon.
Capitalizing on Market Growth:
Experts in the sector have also noted that the hospitality sector in Ahmedabad is a rapidly growing market. During the last two years, the destination has emerged as a prime investment destination for the hotel sector in the country. The decision of the Nirma Group is also in line with the same.
