Horse Powertrain has launched itself in the Indian market at ACMA Automechanika New Delhi, marking its official foray into one of the world’s fastest-growing automotive markets. The company is showcasing a range of hybrid, combustion, and electric powertrain solutions specifically designed for the Indian OEM market.

The company, exhibiting through its Horse Technologies brand, is engaging with car manufacturers looking for scalable and cost-effective solutions that meet emerging emission regulations and fuel strategies.

The company’s solutions are designed to meet the emerging BS7 and CAFE regulations, making it easier to integrate with existing vehicle platforms. The emphasis is on immediate emission reduction without the need for a complete overhaul of the vehicle platform.

The solutions on display include the HORSE H12, a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine for mild hybrid cars, which can run on both petrol and LPG. The HORSE B15 engine, combined with the DHT160 transmission, is also on display. This solution is intended for hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and range-extended EVs. The B15 engine supports gasoline, methanol, and ethanol fuels, while the DHT160 transmission provides 160 kW power through a three-gear hybrid transmission system.

The HORSE M20 is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that can be used as a traditional combustion engine or as a range extender in EVs. The engine is compatible with diesel and hydrogen fuels. The HORSE 4DHT120 hybrid transmission features an electric motor with a maximum output of 120 kW.

Focusing on range extender and flex-fuel technology:

One of the major attractions is the HORSE C15, which is a compact 1.5-liter engine and generator set designed exclusively for range extended EVs. The engine set can be integrated into the front trunk or seat area, making it possible to convert battery electric vehicles into range extended EVs.

The company is also touting its biofuel and flex-fuel solutions as viable options for markets like India, where fuel variety and affordability are still major considerations.

The leadership of Horse Powertrain has identified India as a major market due to its size and impact on the global mobility landscape. With its participation in the ACMA Automechanika, the company hopes to forge partnerships with Indian OEMs and establish itself as a major player in the new mobility manufacturing landscape.
