Tata Consultancy Services and Honeywell have collaborated to form a strategic partnership aimed at facilitating the adoption of AI-based autonomous operations within buildings and industries. This strategic partnership seeks to enable the connection of IT and OT, thereby promoting decision-making based on information obtained in real-time. With the dynamic and rapid changes in automation, can we finally see autonomy in action?
Driving Smarter Building and Industrial Systems:
The collaboration will leverage TCS’ capabilities in IT modernization services, cloud, and consulting, and Honeywell’s experience in operational technology, automation, and AI-powered analytics, so that the operators can go beyond traditional automation and achieve autonomous operations.
TCS facilitates the smooth flow of OT data into IT environments; in turn, this helps establish a unified digital foundation to ensure the enterprise achieves real-time visibility, predictive intelligence, and autonomous process control. Honeywell will be providing the Honeywell Forge platform to the company. It is an industrial and building-related IoT-based AI-powered analytics and operation insights platform.
The partnership, through the integration of IT and OT systems, seeks to assist organisations in achieving optimised processes, enhancing operational efficiency, and designing systems that are capable of perceiving, analysing, acting, and learning. This is seen as enabling organisations to respond quickly while making appropriate decisions, leading to enhanced performances.
Emphasis of leaders: autonomy and convergence:
Anupam Singhal, the President of Manufacturing, TCS, has commented that: “Our partnership with Honeywell is based on enabling enterprise clients to achieve the benefits of autonomous workflows and helping re-define autonomy at scale. With the deep industry knowledge of both Honeywell and TCS, and the strong digital and AI capabilities of TCS, we are enabling clients to run more connected, efficient, and sustainable operations. The partnership is a result of the mutual intent of creating long-term value and helping clients make more intelligent decisions and become truly future-ready.”
Ashish Modi, President, Honeywell India & Asia Pacific, said: “Our customers operate incredibly complex operations. Earlier, operational technology and information technology were considered two separate domains, but with new technological advances that allow us to leverage 5G connectivity, cloud, and AI, we would be able to accelerate OT/IT convergence, which would help us analyze our operations and information better with a single cohesive system, which is expected to help our building and industrial customers operate their businesses more safely, efficiently, and fast, gaining new insights on how their infrastructure is performing.”
The initiative will first be offered in India before expanding to global markets, including the United States and the Middle East.
