FORVIA and ANAND Group are joining forces to expand automotive seating manufacturing in India.

Industrywiz Daily updates

A joint venture is established between FORVIA and ANAND Group to engineer, manufacture and distribute seat frames and seating systems to all automobile manufactures in India. This venture, conducted through the flagship organization of ANAND Group, Gabriel India Limited, will increase component manufacturing capacity within the country to cater for vehicle integration structural needs.

Industrial Challenges and Responsibilities of the Division:

The vehicle seating designs are expected to meet stringent crashworthiness requirements, low structural mass limits and tolerance requirements within tight platform deadlines. There is increasing demand from automotive OEMs for component suppliers to locate near the plant for faster deliveries, lower logistics cost and frame adaptation to local chassis platforms.

In this equity-based structure, FORVIA takes up 50% plus one share while Gabriel India takes 50% minus one share. The former will bring in complete seating product lines, structural safety proprietary technology, kinematic mechanism designs and precision engineering processes.

Technical Integration and Manufacturing Scope:

The resulting operating entity, Faurecia Anand Seating India Private Limited, concentrates on seat track mechanisms, recliners, structural frames, and complete trimmed assemblies. Localizing frame stampings, automated welding, and mechanism assembly directly reduces dependency on imported sub-assemblies.

Production cells will interface directly with OEM assembly protocols through automated tooling and standardized quality inspection systems. Integrating FORVIA Seating engineering platforms allows real-time modifications of seat biomechanics, foam distribution, and frame load-bearing specifications according to specific vehicle models.

Deployment of the Market and Its Operational Implications:

The partnership utilizes a localized production system whereby the production units are supplied directly to the assembly facilities in order to achieve a 10 percent share of the seating market within a period of five years. The localized production structure ensures shorter lead times for materials as well as more efficient production operations in both commercial and passenger cars.
