Ather Energy has disclosed that it will introduce its first mass-market electric scooter, which has been designed using the company’s newest EL platform, at Ather Community Day scheduled on 29 August in Bengaluru. As mentioned by CEO and Co-founder of Ather Energy, Tarun Mehta, the latest offering marks the beginning of a new era for the brand since years of effort and money have been invested in building the technologies and product platform.
In his post on X, Mehta disclosed that it is a new era for the two-wheelers segment as now the focus will shift from early adopters towards mass market. In other words, he highlighted that the electric two-wheelers segment is at such a stage that technologies and features start playing a role in the hands of a wider base of customers instead of EV fans only.
It would be worth mentioning here that Ather’s EL platform, on which the new scooter will be built, was launched at Ather Community Day 2025.
Ather Electric unveils new platform for greater adoption:
According to Mehta, the new-age customers looking to purchase electric scooters want more than just electrified products. Customers want products that meet certain ownership metrics such as high resale value, quicker servicing, increased ride comfort on different types of roads, easy charging and safety software among others.
EL platform has been designed keeping in mind all these new-age customer demands along with aiding the future product roadmap of Ather Electric. With the new platform, Ather Electric wants to move beyond the range of its current 450 and Rizta line-up and enter into the mass market segment of the electric two-wheelers.
The launch takes place at a time when the electric two-wheeler market of India is undergoing some changes wherein manufacturers are diversifying their product range in order to target the masses. Ather Electric entering the mass market segment with its first ever scooter would be one big leap forward for the company.
