GE Aerospace has announced an investment worth Rs 100 crore at their manufacturing facility in Pune. With this investment, GE Aerospace will increase their manufacturing capability in India. Investments are being made towards developing their welding technology, inspecting equipment, tools and infrastructure. The investments have come after their total investment of over Rs 510 Crore in the last three years, which was meant to automate their capabilities for producing future-generation engine components. With these investments, they will be able to produce the GE90, GEnx, GE9X, and LEAP engines.

In just over a decade, this facility has become a high-capability aerospace manufacturing site, contributing to India’s supply chain capabilities as well as GE Aerospace.”
Skills Development and Workforce Growth:
GE’s Pune-based factory plays an important part in its worldwide operations as it produces vital parts for commercial aircraft engines. The factory works with more than 300 local suppliers from among its total number of 2,200 in India in order to boost the position of India within the aerospace industry by means of state-of-the-art manufacturing and engineering processes. The factory runs a two-year apprenticeship program that trains over 500 students per year and has trained over 5,000 production associates since 2015. Recent awards show a commitment to education in the area by GE Aerospace.
