The ‘Blue Sky’ product line has been released by the Suzlon Group. This marks the start of a new stage in the production of high-capacity turbines intended for export markets. The ‘Blue Sky’ product line has been introduced by the Suzlon Group at WindEurope Annual Event 2026 held in Madrid. This product line consists of two models: the S175 with a capacity of 5 MW and the S163, which has a capacity of 6.3 MW.
The company explained that it is part of their ‘Suzlon 2.0’ development strategy, and initially, they will be focused on the European market. The two models presented will suit different regimes, as the S175 turbine will operate in low wind regimes while the S163 will be for medium to high regimes.
Focus on european market requirements:
The company clarified that this product line has been specifically created in line with European regulations and grid specifications. The turbines have been developed to ensure integration with the grid while maintaining consistent performance under different operating parameters.
The hub heights have been enhanced to increase tip heights to 250 m. The company said that it enables improved energy generation and project returns, which aligns with the needs of modern energy projects.
Focus on cost-efficiency and scalability:
The Blue Sky technology platform has been designed based on data from Suzlon’s existing installations of more than 21.5 GW globally. Suzlon claimed that its new wind turbines will provide increased energy efficiency, thus lowering the overall levelised cost of energy.
The design is scalable, meaning that it can be applied to turbines of varying sizes and operating environments. European R&D centers belonging to Suzlon have helped in designing the turbines, emphasizing high efficiency and compatibility with local standards.
In response to increasing energy needs and the need for grid stability, wind turbine manufacturers are looking for turbines with greater efficiency and capacity. This is evident in the latest offering by Suzlon.
