ThunderPlus is planned to develop a 1.6-megawatt ultra-fast electric vehicle charging station at Kunchanapalli, Tadepalli, near Vijayawada, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This charging station will be a significant refueling point for electric vehicles on the busy Hyderabad-Vijayawada road, assisting not only electric buses but also delivery vehicles, commercial electric vehicles, passenger cars, and two-wheelers on key routes between cities. The charging station will be equipped with seven ultra-fast DC charging points and battery swap solutions, meeting the charging requirements of more than 50 electric buses and 100 electric cars simultaneously.
Additionally, it will be a one-stop-shop for electric vehicle mobility solutions, including exclusive electric bus servicing and repair facilities, storage of spare parts, electric vehicle driver training, and support facilities for drivers like entry and resting points, in addition to washing and maintenance services.
Strategic collaboration to fast-track EV infrastructure:
Rajeev YSR, ED & CEO of ThunderPlus, commented, “It gives me immense pleasure to associate with Evey Trans, not only the largest electric bus fleet Operating Company in the country but also one of the early pioneers of the Indian EV ecosystem. Together, we are co-developing high-capacity ultra-fast charging hubs that add immense value to India’s EV infrastructure landscape. This association resonates with ThunderPlus’s philosophy of creating meaningful and sustainable ultra-fast charging networks through strategic collaborations and future-ready infrastructure.”
Sandeep Raizada, CEO of Evey Trans Private Ltd, was also pleased with the collaboration and said, “ThunderPlus’s speed of execution, growth trajectory, and the energy their organization exudes are simply contagious. This is just the beginning of our association. With this association, we are confident of developing several such high-capacity ultra-fast charging hubs in strategic cities and transport corridors, which will help electric buses, trucks, passenger cars, and two-wheelers harness the potential of India’s burgeoning EV infrastructure.”
Supporting Intercity Fleet Electrification:
The ultra-fast charging hub, as proposed, is an essential component for supporting fleet electrification for intercity routes, such as the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route, in line with India’s electric mobility revolution. The infrastructure development projects will play an important role in supporting long-distance electric vehicle travel, fleet electrification, etc.
EVEY Trans Pvt Ltd has a large fleet size of over 3,300 buses, covering more than 800,000 Green KMs daily across 50 cities, operating in seven states and two union territories. The company, in partnership with ThunderPlus, aims to raise the bar for high-capacity electric vehicle charging infrastructure, fueling economic growth while transforming the electric vehicle landscape in India.
