JSW Motors Ltd has partnered with Tata Indian Institute of Skills to develop a talent pool for its new manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The partnership is aimed at developing a comprehensive skilling ecosystem that ranges from the shop floor to the entire manufacturing value chain. The partnership involves a customized curriculum for JSW Motors, covering topics such as EV systems, automation, and advanced manufacturing, with JSW Motors having the authority to hire and validate the curriculum to suit its manufacturing requirements.
Skilling as a Business Imperative:
JSW Motors Ltd’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Rupam Singh, said, “At JSW Motors, skilling is not an HR responsibility; it is a business imperative. As we are setting up our manufacturing facilities, we require individuals who are ‘Day One’ ready. The Tata IIS partnership provides us with a structured capability, relevant curriculum, and execution rigour aligned to our timelines. This is a bridge-building exercise as we set up our own world-class training academy.”
Industry-grade training and institutional expertise:
Tata IIS was selected through a competitive evaluation of the best skilling institutions in the country, with Tata IIS being unique in terms of its industry-grade training infrastructure, robust OEM engagement, and application-based training that is most relevant for today’s EV manufacturing. This collaboration will further strengthen the existing partnership between JSW Foundation and Tata IIS for overall skilling programs.
Venguswamy Ramaswamy, CEO Designate, Tata Indian Institute of Skills, commented, “At Tata IIS, our purpose is to address the skill-related challenges of the nation by developing a next-generation workforce that is not only job-ready but also future-ready. This collaboration with JSW Motors is a major milestone in this direction. Through our bespoke programs in advanced manufacturing, we are preparing India’s youth with the high-precision skills necessary to fuel the next generation of automotive excellence.”
JSW Motors plans to create a complete EV-ready ecosystem by extending its skilling vision beyond the factory floor. The company’s long-term strategy includes skilling supplier partners, dealers, and end customers. As the company scales up, it will set up an internal training academy for advanced manufacturing and mobility technology, thus cementing its position as a leader in the capabilities that align with its manufacturing ambitions.
