TCI and Flying Whales collaborate on the LCA60T freight airship

Industrywiz Daily updates

Transport Corporation of India Ltd (TCI) has announced a partnership with Flying Whales and its operational subsidiary, Flying Whales Services. This partnership is based on the development of the LCA60T aeronautical program, a rigid cargo airship designed to carry a maximum of 60 tonnes. The LCA60T airship is specifically designed to load and unload cargo while hovering. This is particularly beneficial for its decarbonization of the transportation of heavy or bulky cargo. The project is expected to enhance logistics and supply chain management systems in India, especially for high-value and mission-critical programs.

About the LCA60T cargo airship:

The LCA60T project is being developed by Flying Whales, which was first conceptualized to enable the use of renewable wood resources in difficult terrains. The unique feature of the airship is its ability to hover for loading and unloading. This is particularly important in landlocked areas with minimal environmental impact. This mode of transportation provides a cost-effective means of transporting heavy cargo without being limited by land infrastructure.

Strategic expansion:

Moreover, FLYING WHALES is also considering the opening of its third worldwide hub in the state of Tamil Nadu, India, as part of its strategy to offer sustainable air cargo solutions in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions. This project, summarized in the company’s “Three Pillars” strategy, identifies India as a key location for the manufacturing and operational aspects of the LCA60T’s launch. The strategic alliance with TCI is expected to greatly help in achieving this aim, especially in the Indian market, to quickly move forward with the objectives of this project.
