This comes after Infosys informed that it is partnering with a US-based technology company known as Cognition to use Devin, referred to as the world’s first AI software engineer. The collaboration will offer agentic AI strengths from Cognition, together with Infosys Topaz Fabric, which is the company’s multi-layer agentic AI platform. This platform combines infrastructure, models, data, applications, and workflows in a comprehensive ecosystem.
In a statement, Infosys has revealed that the partnership is intended to enable faster software development, enhanced engineering productivity, and shorter time-to-market for global businesses. Infosys stated that it has already employed Devin for the last six months and has also recorded improvements.
Under the tie-up, Devin will be fully integrated into the internal engineering teams at Infosys, embedded in the client delivery models, and enabled for deployment at the customer engineering environments. The two firms will also partner to develop joint engineering frameworks and enablement initiatives to support scaling across industries.
As the companies claim, Infosys Topaz Fabric and Devin will help automate brownfield engineering, enhance the capacity for tackling technical debt, as well as improve the modernisation process, which involves the use of virtual engineers for managing complex production and other maintenance functions.
Additionally, Infosys has clarified that industry-specific solutions, AI-native modernization architectures, and scalable engineering frameworks would be developed together to enable secure and enterprise-ready deployment. Infosys’ Financial Services group is working on the first round of joint engagements with clients, involving Devin in the areas of banking, payments, capital markets, insurance, and wealth management.
Scott Wu, founder of Cognition and its CEO, in the statement added, “We are delighted to partner with their team at Infosys to apply the might of autonomous and agentic AI engineering to some of the world’s largest and most complicated organizations.”
Wu also pointed out that the Exponential Engineering service offered by Infosys is a great addition to Cognition’s mission of redefining how software is developed. “Infosys Topaz Fabric and Devin together provide unparalleled strength from real-time developer augmentation all the way through fully autonomous engineering delivery. Infosys is the first large digital service and consulting company to adopt agentic tools on this scale,” he explained.
“We are enabling clients to accelerate time to market and unlock a new era of engineering transformation by leveraging the industry expertise offered by Infosys and our platform,” Commenting on this new addition as an important step ahead in hastening the unlocking of AI value in global enterprises, Salil Parekh, CEO and MD Infosys, stated: “By combining Cognition’s expertise in agentic and autonomous engineering with our industry-leading domain and execution capabilities, we are creating a differentiated value proposition in the market.”
“These synergies will be further reinforced by the Infosys Topaz Fabric platform, which will be a catalyst for clients seeking innovation and transformation in achieving their strategic goals,” he added.
