The app, named Kash Crop, has been developed by one Hazik Hussain of Tral, Pulwama, and will be made available on the Google Play Store from New Year’s Day. A young software developer from south Kashmir has come up with a unique integrated horticulture solutions app. The app would provide information on weather patterns, diseases, treatment, market rates and other services.
This app, named Kash Crop and developed by Hazik Hussain of Norpora village of Tral in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, has integrated GPS and an in-built AI assistant that helps it to keep track of weather and other updates. This app will be available on the Google Play Store on the New Year’s Day. Hazik told ETV Bharat that he began working on the app three years ago, after his father, Gulzar Ahmed, suffered a stroke that left him responsible for the family’s home gardens.
A Three-Year Journey of Hard Work
“When I started looking after our orchard, I didn’t know anything about it because farming is usually done traditionally in Kashmir. So, I started working on this app,” he said. “After three years’ hard work, this Kash Crop App is ready, which I will dedicate to the public on the arrival of the new year so that the Kashmiri gardener can have an advisor for his garden available on his phone,” he said. Explaining how the app would work, Hazik said, “The farmers and orchardists can download it and set their preferences. They will get all information about fruits, their care, and interventions needed.”

Hussain said the app would offer farmers information on weather, medicines, diseases, market rates, soil testing and other services. The app will have a customer care service for farmers also, apart from providing various information.
Focused Support for Apple Growers
“To begin with, we have provided comprehensive information about Apple. The assistance is crucial because apple cultivation is a major sector in the Kashmir Valley,” he said.
He acknowledged the obstacles he faced in building the app but credited family support and faith with helping him complete the project. “The Internet is a double-edged sword that has both a negative and positive side, and if we use it positively, it can bring a revolution in society,” he said.
