For holiday enthusiasts, Oberweis introduces a new ice cream flavour inspired by The Nutcracker that combines festive taste and inventiveness.
Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy and The Joffrey Ballet are thrilled to announce a new partnership in celebration of the 10th anniversary of two-time Tony Award-winning choreographer ©Christopher Wheeldon’s The Nutcracker.
Launch of the Limited-Edition Nutcracker Peppermint Swirl
Oberweis has created a brand-new, limited-edition ice cream flavour called Nutcracker Peppermint Swirl to commemorate this milestone. This festive new sweet delicacy, a partnership between two of Chicago’s most recognisable companies, will be sold this December at all Oberweis scoop stores and at Lyric Opera House Chicago during The Nutcracker performances, which take place from December 5–28, 2025.
Rich, sweet sugar cookie ice cream is swirled with a festive crimson peppermint ribbon in Oberweis’ new Nutcracker Peppermint Swirl. This December, The Joffrey Ballet will sell the new flavour as individual treats in 4 oz ice cream tubes created by Oberweis. It will also be offered in a three-pack at Oberweis scoop shops and a few grocery stores. Oberweis’s new Nutcracker Peppermint Swirl ice cream tubes will be the first treats offered in a three-pack tube bundle from the most popular ice cream producers in the Midwest.
A Collaboration Rooted in Chicago Tradition

The new flavor will officially be available by The Joffrey Ballet during live performances of The Nutcracker, at Lyric Opera House Chicago beginning December 5 and will be available through December 28.
